One last thing before I go...
For all the students who will be taking this class next year, I have a bit of advice. The best thing to learn in college is to not procrastinate, this advice applies to this class as well as all your other classes you take throughout your years.

All My Favs
Ana had one of my favorite websites because I really liked the different backgrounds she used. They were creative and not just solid colors!
Teka had a very nice home page and the layout of her entire website looked very professionally done.
Jacki had another one of my favorites, because her website really represented her very well.
These people's websites and other people's websites made me want to learn so much more about them and kept me interested when they were presenting them to the class! Great job guys!

My Website
You can visit my website here: http://www.cs.trinity.edu/~mgarci11/
Making my website was a little bit harder than I thought that it would be. There is a lot that goes into making a website that I didn't know about.
For my website, I used Expression Web! I thought it worked very well, and I enjoyed using it.
My favorite pages on my website is my SPURS Sorority page and my page with pictures on it. Those are my favorites because I like all the pictures and they really show what I am like. If I could've changed anything about my website I would have made my website a little bit more fancy looking with more crazy patterns for the backgrounds. I really like pretty backgrounds. I will probably show my website to my friends and family. I think they will like it. I actually would consider making anotehr website for another class in the future, because all-in-all it taught me a lot!

I was absent in the last class so I didn't get to see all of the PowerPoints.
But, Jacki and Ana both showed me their PowerPoints and I though they were both very nicely and professionally done. They hit on all the points of their future jobs and made me even think that those jobs sound interesting and might be something to look into in the future.

I completely agree with most of the articles that we were supposed to read. I would suggest that when making your powerpoint for class be simple, smart with your color, and cautious with your font choices. A bad powerpoint is never fun to watch and the important information that it could be trying to convey gets lost in how incredibly awful and boring it is.
When making a powerpoint I would suggest to:
-Keep it Simple
-Not put too many animations (those get annoying and old fast)
-Use video or audio when necessary
-Choose fonts well so that viewers can read them
-Do not put too many bullet points, or text (too much for viewers to read)

Chris Nolan's Presentation
In Chris Nolan's presentation we learned a lot of stuff about Google and how to use it. He told us that Google was ranked in large part by how many people have linked to them because it gives them more credibility. He told us that popular results are more towards the top, scholarly resources may often times be much further down on the list.
I learned from him that you have to be careful with government run sites because they may often times have biase information. I found this very surprising because you would often think that a government ran site is the way to go! But after I thought about it I realized that he was completely right because different politicians and parties would of course have different views.
I found out that often times Google books does not have an entire book, but because of Trinity's database you may be able to find it on there or sometimes even Google books may have it.

Copyright Presentation
When Jason Hardin, Manager of Access Services, came and gave a lecture to our class we learned many new things about copyright laws. Many people, young and old, download music illegally thinking that it is not a big deal. Many people think that it is fine as long as they buy some music and illegally download other music. The truth is though, that any downloading where you do not purchase the music is illegal. It is not fair to the person who created and published this music for people to just download it all for free when they could be making a good profit off of it. Ultimately most copyright comes down to money and the money that the creator and publisher could possibly be losing.
My personal stance on copyright is that we definitely shouldn't do it. It is illegal and completely wrong to steal, so why would we download? Because, it is ultimately stealing as well.

Here is my Network Diagram. I thought that making this was rather difficult, but also very helpful in learning how everything works. This was very time consuming, but definitely helped me learn a lot of new things. I enjoyed our tour of the server room, and it was so interesting to see where everything is located. All those wires were crazy!

Joe said that for Mac computers we can try using thexlab.com to help clean our computers. I will definitely use this because a cleaner computer is a safer computer. I will also be using the ccleaner.com to clean my computer at my house.
I thought these things amongst many other things were very helpful.

I thought the scavenger hunt was fun and definitely an interesting way to get to know the people in our class!
I wrote on Amanda Beekes' blog http://abeekes.blogspot.com/, Bri Tammaro's blog http://btammaro.blogspot.com/, and Teka Nicholas' blog http://tekanicholas.blogspot.com/.
I wrote on a third one because I had a lot of things to comment and say to each of them! :)

My Intro

Hi, my name is Macy Garcia and I am from Houston, Texas.
I began dancing when I was three years old and almost became a prima ballerina at a young age. I did musical theater as well as dance. I love traveling and in ninth grade went abroad to Europe, which was the best decision I have ever made for myself. I also enjoy photography, fashion, art and fishing with my dad and uncle (who is a pro fishing guide). Although I grew up my whole life in Houston I was born in Atlanta, Georgia. This semester I will be pledging and I am also a member of Trinity Distinguished Representatives.
My computer background and knowledge is basic. I have worked with Photoshop before and most of my computer skills come from being the editor of my high school yearbook.
Secret Fact: I am double jointed nearly everywhere.
You may e-mail me here.
